We reviewed Watergate terms and people. Students took a quiz over Chapter 21.
Students read two documents (downloaded PDFs): Watergate Background and Watergate Cast of Characters. They used these to define terms and explain these in the context of Watergate and to identify the people involved. This assignment can be hand written using the two handouts in class on Friday or printed from the Word file available on the Downloads Page. Do NOT submit this assignment through the website.
We watched the C-SPAN biography of Richard Nixon and answered questions on the bio handout. We then reviewed what we've learned so far about the Nixon administration and remembered what was covered in The Century yersterday. We watched the second section of the film, then outlined events of the Nixon presidency.
Tomorrow we begin our study of Watergate. Today students read Watergate Background, available on the Downloads page. Be sure to download and save the Word document Watergate Cast of Characters Assignment. You will use this in class. Bring to class a laptop or tablet that you can use in completing this assignment. You will also download the Watergate Cast of Characters PDF which contains information about each person involved in the story. We explored Nixon's southern strategy of winning over southern Democrats to vote Republican, changing the political balance of the U.S. This week we are watching an episode of The Century, produced by ABC News in 2000. Today's film covered the first moon landing, the expansion of the Vietnam War to Cambodia and antiwar protest at home.
Tomorrow we will watch a C-SPAN bio of Nixon. Today we defined terms on the bio handout. Be prepared for a quiz over Chapter 21. We began our study of the Nixon - Ford years today. Read and study Chapter 21 this week.
